It's been an impossible year for our local heroes, so let's show them "we've got their 6."

So, #Ladder419 is teaming up with area breweries, food trucks and businesses to raise $30,000 to send an entire TPD class through a life changing PTSD retreat at H.O.O.V.E.S. in Swanton, OH.

healing our heroes - March 14, 2021

Why are we doing this?

We cannot do enough to thank our local heroes (Police, Fire, Healthcare & Educators) for their support. 2020 and the early months of 2021 have been filled with unprecedented challenges for us all, and these brave men and women are there to keep us safe, healthy and educated.

In July 2020, Toledo experienced an unthinkable tragedy when Officer Anthony Dia was killed in the line of duty. A young officer with a young family, Toledo still mourns this tragic loss of a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Just a few months later, Toledo Police suffered a second tragic loss when Officer Brandon Stalker was also killed in the line of duty.

The stress that our local officers face in a normal year are incredible, but that stress has been compounded by the stress of losing colleagues and friends.

So, Kevin Mullan, owner of Tapped 419/Ladder 419 and Trevor Deeter, owner of Deet's BBQ, met with George Kral, Chief of the Toledo Police Department to learn how we could help.

After learning that both Officer Dia and Office Stalker were members of the same TPD recruitment class, we've decided to partner with H.O.O.V.E.S., a local non-profit that works with first-responders and veterans. H.O.O.V.E.S., located in Swanton, OH, enlists horses to transform Post-Traumatic Stress into Post-Traumatic Growth, and make their life-changing retreats available to the entire class.
